From your front door to a little more sun
Your town. Your time.
Where’s sunny?
Start with the time you have. Sol is being built to help you find sunny places you can actually reach, with travel options and stays alongside.
Sol is not public yet. Here’s the approach behind it.
Less time planning.
More time being there.
A few choices. A whole trip.
- 01
Start where you are.
Choose your UK town or city and the dates you want to get away.
- 02
Make time for the journey.
Set your travel-time limit and choose train, car or plane. Count the whole journey, including connections and transfers.
- 03
Follow the brighter days.
Compare the sunshine for your dates, then look at ways to get there and places to stay. Check availability and book with the provider.
The sun score, in plain English
How sunny could
your break be?
The sun score is a way to compare how much sunshine is forecast for your trip. More forecast sunshine means a higher score. It helps you compare places for the same dates, rather than relying on a single weather icon.
It is a guide to sunshine, not a promise of warm weather or a guarantee of sun. Look at temperature, rain and wind too.
Room for the unknown
A missing forecast
isn’t a grey day.
If a forecast is missing for part of your trip, that day stays unknown. It should not count as zero sunshine or as a sunny day.
For example, “3 of 4 days checked” means one day has no usable forecast. It does not mean four sunny days. This is an example, not a Sol search result.
More about forecasts and coverageBefore you go
A few good questions.
Does sunshine mean it will be warm?
No. Sunshine describes direct sun; temperature, rain and wind tell you other things about how a day will feel. A bright winter walk may still need a warm coat.
Why does the whole journey matter?
A short flight can still be a long trip. Include reaching the station or airport, connections, waiting and the final transfer, and check the return too.
Can forecasts change?
Yes. Check the latest weather and your travel details before booking or setting off. A forecast helps you plan; it cannot promise sunshine.
